A Traineeship at Cessnock Kids Preschool & ELC is an excellent way for you to commence your early childhood career, enabling you to work in a supportive learning environment while completing your qualification. Our Traineeships are designed for those completely new to the industry, including school leavers. On completion of your Traineeship you will have gained a nationally recognised Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.

During your traineeship you will:

  • have regular visits training from your Training Officer;
  • receive excellent training support from our Director and Educational Leader;
  • have allocated dedicated study time whilst at work;
  • become a valuable member of the Cessnock Preschool & ELC team;
  • work closely with children, their families & team members enhancing your learning about child development & education;
  • have the opportunity to learn from experienced Early Childhood professionals, who will be there to support & teach you.

What are the Requirements of Applicants?

You do not need to have any previous experience in a childcare setting to apply for this role.

We a looking for team players who are enthusiastic, eager to learn and have a friendly demeanour.

Key requirements for the position include:

  • a genuine love for children and a desire to build a career in Early Childhood Education and Care;
  • a great work ethic;
  • self-motivation and lots of energy;
  • a Working With Children Check (WWCC). You can apply for your WWCC by clicking here;
  • the ability to commit to a 12 month traineeship;
  • ability to work efficiently and an understanding that your traineeship will include a lot task-like duties including cleaning, changing nappies and setting up play experiences and equipment.

If successful you will need to obtain:

  • an approved Childcare First Aid Certificate at your own cost with the course code HLTAID004. We can assist you in finding an approved training institute. This is usually a full day course.

What is the duration of the traineeship?

12 months

Can I finish my traineeship early?

Some components of your Traineeship are self-paced, so if you complete your work quickly you may be eligible to complete your qualification in less than 12 months with the Nominated Supervisors Approval.

How much does it cost to do a traineeship?

Cessnock Kids provides fully funded traineeships, there is no cost for enrolling in your course.

What will I get paid?

Your rate of pay is determined by your level of education as well as when you leave or have already left school. Remember that you will be gaining valuable on the job experience whilst gaining a formal qualification and your wage will increase once you are qualified.

What would my work hours be?

You will need to be available from 6:30am-6pm Monday-Friday to work on a rotating roster. You will be working 38 hours per week.

Would I have to go to TAFE?

No, all training is completed on the job so you get paid, while you complete your qualification.

What qualification would I get once I finish my traineeship?

Upon successful completion of your traineeship you receive a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. The Certificate III is recognised by the Australian Qualifications Framework, which means, you can take this qualification anywhere within Australia and work as an accredited childcare worker.
